Abstract
This paper Titled: “Storytelling, Pedagogy and Moral Order: Udoinynag Mbat’s Dream In Exile and Elizabeth James’ Not Tomorrow”, examines the utility of storytelling as aesthetic strategy for instruction on morality, ethical values re-orientation and character modelling of the young and malleable minds for the betterment of the present and the future of society. The research approach is qualitative in which the primary texts selected for analysis are read critically and analysed through descriptive means, and grounded on cultural theory as theoretical parameter and perspective. The primary texts were evaluated purposefully towards the realisation of the set objectives of the paper. The analysis highlights and underscores the point that storytelling, as a lasting heritage of African cultural episteme, has evolved and survived through time, despite the corrosive nature of postmodernity on the traditional values and cultural ethos of indigenous African societies. In its finding, the paper submits that storytelling remains the cultural bastion for pedagogy, and the inculcation of values and moral rectitude in the bids to regenerate good values and realise better society and world order for the present and for the future generations.
